Kannadi Bommaigal portrays the life of a young man who moves to Chennai with his newly-married, with the aspiration of becoming an actor. "The protagonist Guna, a Therukoothu artiste, turns into a lightman when he doesn't find opportunities to act and he ends up working as a light-man for 25 years.

A seven-year-old spends time happily with his father and step mother. But with the birth of a new baby in the family, he's unable to tolerate the competition for parental love, and kills the newborn.

The movie starts with a flashback where Saravanan (Uday) and Parthasarathy (Santhanam) work at a popular multiplex and are close buddies. Saravanan's mother (Saranya) is innocent and strives hard for over twenty years to get his graduation, since it is her husband's (Azhagam Perumal) dream desire. One day, Saravanan sees Meera (Hansika) at a traffic signal and it is love at first sight for him. He desperately runs behind her to win over her heart. He even takes the help of his friend Partha. But all their plans fail. As it happens, it is a cat and mouse game between the two. But things take a turn and Meera's wedding gets fixed with an industrialist's son.

In Costa Rica, a pastor and his daughter worry for the future of their church, while in El Salvador, a grandmother and grandson make an arduous journey into the city. A husband and wife reconnect in Honduras, as a young couple nurses a mysterious stranger back to health in Guatemala. Meanwhile, in Nicaragua, a young woman prepares for her quinceañera and in Panama, a housekeeper grows exasperated with her demanding employer.

Sentenced to more than one hundred years, is a rebel prisoner, clever and elusive that it has nothing to lose and nobody to worry about. In 1991, manages to escape from a police van jumping up. Stopped after two months of robberies and shootings, Garfia leads several prison riots, against which the authorities takes as a measure subjecting prisoners to a more contentious special isolation regime. Garfia, the prisoner with the highest IQ, avoiding drugs, which seems immune to punishment, and lives two years without seeing anyone, held in a tiny cell and subjected to continuous harassment. There he meets Marimar, a nurse I can barely speak, but between both of a current of mutual understanding.
